The vivo X300 series launched a year ago, and the X300 Pro in particular made our list of best camera phones. Vivo launched the X500 series in China last month, but you no longer have to wait to get your hands on one of these devices.

Vivo has launched the X500 series globally today, consisting of the X500, X500 Pro, and X500 Pro Max. All three phones are equipped with 90W wired charging, 90W wireless charging, a 50MP selfie camera, a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and IP68/69 ratings. These phones also support camera features like auto-framing video capture and dual-camera recording.

As for software, these phones ship with OriginOS 7 atop Android 17. Vivo’s latest skin brings the Origin Workbench multitasking feature to conventional phones, that polarizing Liquid Glass-style aesthetic, semantic file search, and a claimed six years of smoothness.

As the name implies, the X500 Pro Max is the best phone out of the lot. It has a MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset, a 7,800mAh battery, and a 6.85-inch QHD+ 144Hz OLED screen. By contrast, the X500 Pro uses the same chipset but switches to a 6,510mAh battery and a 6.36-inch 1.5K 144Hz OLED display. So fans of smaller phones will want to keep an eye on the Pro.

Both Pro phones pack the same main camera, namely the Sony LYTIA L910 shooter (1/1.28-inch). This is the first LOFIC camera sensor on a vivo handset, enabling up to 17 stops of dynamic range. The company says this expanded dynamic range only applies to Log mode and the Vivid and Golden Hour styles, not to photo mode. Otherwise, both phones also have a 50MP ultrawide camera (ISOCELL JN5).

We see a big difference when it comes to telephoto cameras, though. The X500 Pro Max is equipped with a 200MP 85mm periscope camera (ISOCELL HP0), while the X500 Pro uses a 64MP 85mm LYTIA-610 periscope shooter.

Both phones also pack camera features, such as 4K/240fps slow-motion video recording, 4K/120fps HDR capture, lock-on subject-tracking, and long-range motion snapshots. However, the Pro Max also supports “Anyplace Telephoto Tracking” at 10x to 30x and 60fps autofocus tracking (including in 4K/120fps capture). Both devices also support a 200mm external lens, while the Pro Max supports the 400mm telephoto extender too.

The standard X500 is the least capable flagship of the lot, but you’re still getting a pretty compelling offering. Expect a Dimensity 9600M chip instead of the Dimensity 9600 Pro SoC. This chip is essentially the previous-generation Dimensity 9500, which means it still delivers plenty of horsepower.

Other notable core specs include a 7,500mAh battery and a 6.59-inch 1.5K 144Hz OLED screen. The latter is an LTPS display and only drops down to 60Hz rather than the 1Hz minimum refresh rate seen on its Pro stablemates.

On the camera front, the standard X500 has a 50MP LYT-828 main camera (1/1.28-inch), a 50MP ultrawide shooter (ISOCELL JN1), and a 64MP 72mm telephoto camera (LYTIA-610). It also supports the 200mm telephoto extender, enabling native ~8.7x zoom.

The vivo X500 series is launching in a host of regions. Vivo told Android Authority that the current list of confirmed markets is Algeria, Austria, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Panama, Peru, the Philippines, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the UAE, and Vietnam. Unfortunately, the US and UK aren’t on the list of countries.

Nevertheless, the standard X500 will be available in Black, Gray, and White colors — we’re still looking to confirm pricing. Want the X500 Pro? Then it starts at €1,399 (~$1,560) for the 12GB/256GB variant. Meanwhile, the X500 Pro Max starts at €1,599 (~$1,780) for the 12GB/256GB model. The Pro phones are available in Black, Gray, Orange, and White colors.

It’s also worth noting that the X500 Pro Max has a 6,570mAh battery in Europe instead of a 7,500mAh battery. Furthermore, the X500 Pro uses a 5,300mAh battery in Austria in lieu of the global model’s 6,510mAh pack. The standard X500 uses a 7,500mAh battery globally.
