Apple has just released public beta 2 for its forthcoming fall software updates, including iPadOS 27 and more. Here’s what’s new.
Earlier this week Apple shipped developer beta 4 for iOS 27, macOS Golden Gate, iPadOS 27, and more. Now today, those same software builds have debuted for public beta testers too.
Public beta 2 is rolling out now for iPadOS 27, tvOS 27, HomePod 27, and more.
You can enroll in Apple’s public beta program at beta.apple.com. It’s free to sign up, and grants access to pre-release builds of this fall’s major new software updates.
After enrolling per the instructions on Apple’s beta website, you’ll be able to install the new software via the Software Update section inside Settings on your devices.

If you’re running the developer betas from Monday, nothing has changed since then. Apple just typically spaces out the release of developer and public betas by a day or more.
This staggered release pattern ensures that if any major issues are discovered in a developer beta, Apple can implement fixes before the wider public beta ships.
