The Meta CEO’s real estate portfolio now includes a 440-acre estate in Ireland.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg now owns an actual castle. Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan bought Strancally Castle and its 440-acre estate in Ireland “several weeks ago,” according to The Irish Times. While the exact price of the purchase is unclear, the family could have paid “anywhere between €20 million and €30 million” for the 16,000-square-foot castle, which was restored by its previous owners.
“Mark and his family look forward to caring for this historic home and visiting when traveling to Ireland, where Meta maintains its international headquarters,” Brian Baker, a spokesperson for Zuckerberg, says in a statement to The Verge. The Irish Times says “it is understood” that Zuckerberg and Chan will still reside in the US.
Strancally Castle was built around 1830 for a Tory MP. The castle’s previous owners were Michael Alen-Buckley, a co-founder of a private investment company, and his wife, Giancarla.
Zuckerberg also reportedly owns more than 11 properties in Palo Alto and properties in Florida, Washington, D.C., and Hawaii.
