Lutron is expanding its existing Caseta integration with Sonos, adding the ability to control smart-home devices using Sonos Voice Control.
Beginning today, Caseta users can say “Hey Sonos” to control connected lights and shades from a voice-enabled Sonos speaker. Supported commands include turning lights on or off, changing their brightness, raising or lowering shades, checking device status, and activating Lutron scenes.
The important distinction is that Lutron and Sonos already worked together. Caséta users could previously use a Pico audio remote to play or pause music, skip tracks, and adjust volume, while Lutron scenes could coordinate lighting, shades, and music.
What’s new is control in the other direction: Sonos speakers can now serve as a hands-free interface for Caséta devices.
Sonos Voice Control added broader Lutron support on July 20, initially covering the company’s HomeWorks and RadioRA 3 systems. Caseta and RadioRA 2 Select were listed as coming soon at the time.
These voice requests are processed locally on compatible Sonos speakers.
The integration requires a Lutron Smart Hub and a Sonos product with microphone support. Users can set it up from the Integrations section of the Lutron app. Sonos says Lutron home-control commands are currently available in US English.
