Unsurprisingly, Apple is working on an iOS 27 update that will fix an issue affecting some iPhone 18 Pro users where Face ID is failing and forcing a restart.
Whenever millions of devices are released alongside a new OS, there are problems. In the case of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, some users reported restarts caused by kernel panics, so unexpected and unforced restarts.
One Reddit user said this happened when the Wallet app was opened. That same user, and two others, also reported crashes after Face ID failed to recognize them.
Now, Apple has confirmed that it is working on a software update that will fix this particular problem. No specific release date has been given but reportedly it will be early next week.
This does mean that Apple regards the bug as a software problem. However, the same Reddit user says that the company also considers their iPhone to be faulty and is replacing it.
Separately, AppleInsider has been told of users being unable to place calls on AT&T, which we are investigating now and will have information later on Thursday. Plus there were documented issues with sudden restarts on the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4, but that has been patched.
