Galaxy S27 leaks reveal a design that Samsung just won’t kill

Whether you’re a fan of the Galaxy S27 Ultra’s new camera design or not, Samsung is ditching the cohesive design that has tied its Galaxy S models together last year. The Galaxy S27 looks nothing like the Galaxy S27 Ultra, according to these latest leaks.

What appear to be official-looking render images of the Galaxy S27’s design have appeared online, showing every nook and cranny of the new base model (via Android Headlines). The only part about this leak that might be off-putting is the fact that the Galaxy S27 looks nothing like the Galaxy S27 Ultra, which recently leaked in a similar fashion

The Ultra model has a new camera design similar to what Apple designed into the iPhone 17 Pro. The camera “pateau” expands the island we usually see around the lenses to span the entire rear width of the phone. For whatever reason, Samsung did it, whether it’s for Qi2.2 or less wobble when the phone lies face-up, the point is that it’s a major shift. Don’t get your hopes up for Qi2 magnets, though.

The Galaxy S27, however, won’t be much of a shift, or even a nudge.

The leak indicates Samsung’s Galaxy S27 will have nearly identical dimensions and design to the Galaxy S26, save for a fraction of a millimeter in each direction. It will bring another 6.3-inch display to users who want the smaller model of Samsung’s Galaxy S line.

Inside, there’s a question as to what the company plans on putting at the helm. It could be a top-tier Snapdragon SoC, or it could be Samsung’s own silicon. Storage configurations are also a mystery, for now. With the price of RAM jumping further and further, the possibility of another price hike and less RAM is on the table. The Galaxy S27 Ultra could come with a price increase, according to previous reports. The same is very possible for the Galaxy S26.

It’s interesting to see Samsung making such a big change to the Galaxy S27 Ultra while keeping the more affordable options essentially unchanged in design since the Galaxy S23, even. Even when the Galaxy S26 Edge was reportedly set for a debut as the middle-ground option, Samsung had to kill it in favor of – you guessed it – the same design that was leaked today. It just won’t die.

The Galaxy S27 is expected to launch at the beginning of next year.
