Apple unveiled its MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR today, and the all-new model features the return of a beloved design feature: a glowing Apple logo on the lid.
One of the MacBook’s most iconic design features in the past was its glowing Apple logo on the lid.
Among a sea of other laptops in coffee shops and offices around the world, the glowing Apple logo made the MacBook stand out.
But Apple started phasing out the illuminated logo in 2015 with its 12-inch MacBook. The non-glowing logo then spread to redesigns of the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air in the years that followed.
Today though, with the new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display, the glowing Apple logo is back.
It’s just one of the many changes with the all-new MacBook Pro, but it’s a significant one for longtime Apple users.
For a lot of users, the glowing logo represents a fond, nostalgic period in Mac computing.
CEO John Ternus clearly knew this, as he teased the new feature in a video this morning.
Its reintroduction in the MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR is a good sign that the illuminated logo could start spreading to other models in the future. Though it won’t happen right away, Apple is likely to bring back the glowing logo on redesigns of its other models in the years ahead.
