Motorola’s stable Android 17 update rollout is underway this month, starting with its flagship Signature series. While we previously tracked the eligible devices lineup and previewed early changes during the Android 17 beta cycle, this marks the first time we’ve gained access to the official changelog for the stable Android 17 update reaching Motorola devices.
According to a report by FoneArena, Motorola’s Android 17 update brings a refreshed system UI, an upgraded Quick Settings menu, expanded cross-platform file sharing, device diagnostics, and new AI and anti-scam security protections. This is the official changelog shared by the report:
Documentation on Motorola’s support portal gives us another changelog for the stable Android 17 update. However, this changelog appears to pertain to the broader platform-related features that are generally available in Android 17 rather than the unique features coming to Motorola’s UX skin:
While seeing the official changelogs provides welcome clarity on what Android 17 brings to Motorola devices, the broader rollout picture remains somewhat murky. Motorola’s official eligibility list has been riddled with several baffling inconsistencies, from listing unannounced models like the Edge 70 Neo and Edge 70 Plus to duplicate entries for the Edge 60. More concerning is that several relatively recent devices with active update commitments, including the Edge 50 series, Edge 60 Neo, Razr 2024, and Moto G75, were curiously left off the official roster.
Given Motorola’s historically spotty track record with software update commitments and even communication, we hope the company resolves these discrepancies and clarifies whether the omitted handsets will eventually join the Android 17 queue.
