Good news for anyone who spent the past few days struggling to find recent news or software updates: Google has finally fixed its broken Search time filter feature.
We recently reported that Google Search’s time filters — such as “Past 24 hours,” “Past month,” or custom date ranges — had stopped working globally. Instead of isolating results to your chosen timeframe, Search returned a random mix of old and new content, forcing users to rely on manual search operators as a workaround.
Fortunately, that manual workaround is no longer necessary. Google’s VP of Engineering for Search, Rajan Patel, recently confirmed on X that a resolution had rolled out.
A Google Help Community representative on Reddit echoed the announcement, confirming that the glitch has been resolved. I put it to the test on both Android and desktop, and the time filters are indeed back to pulling up accurate, date-restricted results as expected.
With everything back in working order, you can safely ditch those manual search operators and return to using the standard dropdown filters for your daily searches.
