With one official announcement and one report, two new Apple TV projects have been revealed this week. Here are the details.
As reported by Variety, Justin Timberlake is set to return to Apple TV, this time for a four-part “tell-all” docuseries.
This will mark Timberlake’s second project at Apple TV, after “Palmer,” a 2021 drama about an ex-convict who befriends a boy from a troubled home.
One source says the series will feature Janet Jackson discussing the infamous “wardrobe malfunction” that took place during the pair’s performance at the 2004 Super Bowl. Another source says that Timberlake discusses some of former girlfriend Britney Spears’ recent comments as well.
According to the report, the docuseries will be directed by Fisher Stevens (Succession) and is set to be released in December, which means an official announcement could come sooner rather than later.
As for something Apple TV officially announced, the company unveiled “Lenni,” a new comedy-drama starring Toni Collette (Hereditary, Wayward).
“Lenni” is a darkly comedic mystery about family — what it means to have one, to lose one, to pull one apart. Lenni, a child welfare worker and divorced mother of two, spends her days fighting for other people’s families while her own is in a constant state of hilarious chaos. The season follows Lenni through a new case, where the stakes couldn’t be higher as her work and personal life collide.
Based on the hit Norwegian series “Pernille,” “Lenni” will also feature Ciarán Hinds (Game of Thrones), Dan Wyllie (Love My Way), Josh McKenzie (La Brea), Celeste Barber (The Letdown), Genevieve Hegney (Colin From Accounts), Arka Das (The Airport Chaplain), and Wayne Blair (Total Control).
Apple didn’t announce a premiere date for “Lenni,” but production is already underway in Sydney, Australia.
Apple TV is available for $14.99 per month or as part of the Apple One bundle. It features hit TV shows and movies like Ted Lasso, Severance, The Studio, The Morning Show, Shrinking, and Silo.
