Changes are happening to the Apple Cash Terms and Conditions, with Green Dot Bank requiring users to identify themselves to reload balances starting November 9.
Apple Cash users are starting to receive emails from Apple about a few changes happening to the service. The changes are being prompted by Green Dot Bank, the financial partner for Apple Cash, with the email pointing to the three biggest changes to the fine print.
The first change is that, from November 9, Green Dot Bank will start requiring users verify their identity, if they want to reload their Apple Cash balance. Users can verify by going to Settings then Wallet & Apple Pay, then Apple Cash, and following the instructions.
Users who do not verify themselves will be prevented from sending or receiving money via Apple Cash, but can still spend or transfer existing funds to another bank account.
Green Dot Bank has also updated the arbitration section of the Terms and Conditions for Apple Cash. Apple writes that it encourages users to review the changes covering their rights and the dispute resolution process.
The third point of the Apple-highlighted changes says that Green Dot Bank may enable "Externally-Initiated Funding Transactions." This means users will be able to transfer funds directly to their Apple Cash Card from a bank or merchant.
Currently, external transfers to reload an Apple Card balance rely on a debit or prepaid card.
