iOS 27.0.1 just launched yesterday, but Apple is already well on its way to preparing iOS 27.2 as a forthcoming iPhone update (with 27.1 likely iPhone Duo-only). Here are three new features coming with iOS 27.2.
FaceTime got one of its biggest upgrades in years with iOS 27.
On compatible iPhone models, Dual Capture lets you display both your front and rear camera views at the same time. Just tap the ‘Flip’ button and the back camera will go live while the front camera remains active.
And in iOS 27.2, the feature gets even better by adding support for Group FaceTime calls.
iOS 27 currently only lets you use Dual Capture in one-on-one calls, but with iOS 27.2 it will be available for Group FaceTime too.
Apple Podcasts gets a key change in iOS 27.2 that I’m already a big fan of in the beta.
The previous ‘Up Next’ queue at the top of the app’s Home tab is being split into two new sections:
I’ve criticized the Up Next feature before for being cluttered and confusing, so I’m very excited to see this change. In my early testing, I think it’s a huge improvement that helps users better keep track of everything they’re listening to.
Apple’s TV app is about to support user profiles on iPhone, bringing the feature over from tvOS to iOS for the first time.
When you first launch the TV app in iOS 27.2, you’ll see a new profile selection screen. You can easily disable it from ever showing up again. But if your child ever watches videos on your iPhone, you might be very glad about this new feature.
With profiles, the Apple TV app can change which content it displays and recommends based on the selected viewer. And importantly, when a child’s profile is active, they’ll only see age-appropriate series and movies from Apple. So not only does your own personal viewing queue stay uncluttered, but you also ensure your child doesn’t see something they shouldn’t.
