On this week's episode of the Smart Home Insider podcast, we go through a slew of new Apple smart home leaks before covering the news from Anker's security event.
After digging through more of Apple's code, Aaron Perris was able to uncover several new references to unreleased smart home devices. This includes Apple TV 4K, HomePod mini, and possibly a full-size HomePod.
The leak revealed the new colors of the upcoming HomePod mini 2, which include black, white, blue, pink, and green. There also appears to be a new configuration coming that allows four HomePods to be paired together with an Apple TV 4K.
Speaking of which, the same leak has confirmed the new form factor of the updated Apple TV 4K. Unsurprisingly, it looks to retain the same design as the existing model.
Also for Apple TV 4K, Apple appears to be working on a new audio feature for its screensavers. For example, Snoopy may gain ambient audio that users could toggle on or off.
A new animation was revealed, showing the top light of HomePod and HomePod mini. There's a new, more colorful animation when used with Siri AI versus that of the current Siri, again seemingly confirming the widespread rumored feature of the new models.
Otherwise in the news, Govee has a new holiday light projector for the outside of your home. It supports Apple Home via Matter and has 16 swappable patterns it can project, alongside a nebula RGBW light.
Finally, Anker hosted a small security event in NYC to preview some of its devices that it announced at IFA. It highlighted the Edge 5.0 system that is comprised of five different cameras including its new S4 video doorbell and Tracklight Cam S1.
Together, they're intended to provide proactive and intelligent security to your home by tracking possible intruders from the edge of your property. The system supports Apple Home when used with the Eufy base station 380 and processes video locally in your home.
