Google Maps just recently fixed an error that prevented traffic data from showing up. While that problem is now in the rearview mirror, it looks like the team won’t be able to take a break quite yet. Another bug has reared its ugly head, and this one affects hotel results.
When you open up the Google Maps app, one of the first things you’ll see are pins. These are used to show you where various businesses and landmarks are located, such as restaurants, museums, supermarkets, and so on. You can also perform a search on a specific subject to see all of the locations for that subject in your area.
However, some Google Maps users are noticing that these pins are not showing up for hotels. According to the reports, no pins populate the map when searching for a hotel. Zooming in and out doesn’t work, nor does looking at other areas. Meanwhile, searching for other businesses, such as restaurants, does still appear to work. This problem has been spotted on Android, iOS, and PC.
On Google’s community forum, one user points out that they live near “hundreds” of hotels. However, when they search for hotels on their OnePlus phone, they only see one or two red pins (see above). They add that the hotels only appear in the list below the map. It appears that the same scenario played out when the user switched over to their partner’s Samsung phone and on PC.
Another user who was also experiencing the same problem claims the issue has been fixed for them. They say that the hotel pins reappeared for them this morning at 10:45 AM ET.
